The owner, Wallace Johnson, master cabinet maker, is an expert in adapting the design of kitchens, baths and offices or libraries to the personality, style and taste of the client. There are never any “surprises” because state-of-the-art computer software produces perspectives that let you “move around in” and see the design from every angle.
Wallace Johnson’s family moved to Virginia in 1951, and he has been rooted here ever since. He went away to prep school and college and for a while pursued a banking career. But he realized that what he really wanted to do was to work with wood. He now has 25 years of experience as a master cabinetmaker and he has been in the business of designing kitchens for discerning clients since 1989. His impressive portfolio includes work done in historic properties, private residences, foreign embassies, and vacation homes. Wallace (Wally), who has a long-standing commitment to the community, occasionally offers to teach local classes. Wally and his wife Carolyn first met when she took a class he was teaching on woodworking. The Johnsons are very much a part of the local Loudoun County community - and the world community as well. Carolyn works in international health (she was formerly Director of Nursing for Project Hope). Together they help people in Third World countries through Genesis International. Wally and Carolyn are currently helping orphans in Zambia and are putting together a similar program for Nigeria and Malawi. Wally and Carolyn are also directors of The Round Hill Art Center, a local non-profit organization.
Custom woodworking and millwork are also available for specialty items beyond the scope of suppliers. Round Hill Design Studio has its own woodworking facility and can produce such diverse items as interior and exterior doors for home or garden, corner cabinets with shell molding, tables, and even baby beds that match or coordinate with the custom cabinetry.

showroom is several miles west of Leesburg in the country village of Round
Hill. The Design Studio is easy to find – it’s right in the
center of town, at the intersection of Main Street & West Loudoun Street
(that’s Business Route 7).

COMMITMENT TO THE COMMUNITY
Wally’s
focus on people as individuals and as part of a community is reflected
in the way he creates his designs. He takes a personalized approach with
each new project, getting to know the client and their family and understanding
what their individual needs are. He also coordinates with the architect,
interior designer and contractor to ensure that everything works as it
should. Hardware, floors, countertops, appliances, and tile are all seamlessly
incorporated into the overall design scheme. The resulting design reflects
attention to detail in both form and function.
