Round Hill Design Studio's approach to design is to get to know the client and their family and understand their individual needs. We discuss preferred styles and exactly how the space will be used. We listen carefully to what your budget parameters are and work to keep the project within that scope. Of course we expertly handle the installation, but for larger projects, we will coordinate with your architect, interior designer and contractor to ensure that everything works as it should. Fixtures, floors, hardware, countertops, lighting, appliances, and tile are all seamlessly incorporated into the overall design scheme. The resulting design reflects attention to detail in both form and function.
We work quickly and efficiently to minimize the disruption in your home. Nothing is torn out until the cabinetry is scheduled for delivery. The cabinetry is installed by the owner of Round Hill Design, Wally Johnson.
What also sets us apart from other design firms is custom woodworking and millwork that is available for specialty items beyond the scope of suppliers. Such diverse items as interior and exterior doors for home or garden, corner cabinets with shell molding, tables, and even baby beds that coordinate with cabinetry are created in our own woodworking shop.
The Steps
- Schedule a meeting in our showroom
- Bring photos of your existing space, blue prints for new construction and magazine pictures, paint swatches or anything else that will give us insight as to how you envision your new room.
- Share your ideas on budget. This information is helpful so we know which of our cabinetry lines makes the most sense for your project and how to allocate the dollars available. It is your money and we want to help you use it wisely.
- See our beautiful and top quality cabinetry. We offer Quality Custom Cabinetry -- a fully custom line and Waypoint Living Spaces– a semi-custom line.
- Invite us to your home to measure
- The next step in the process is to measure your room. We take pictures and detailed measurements.
- Tell us exactly how you want to use the room. Know what kitchen appliances or bathroom fixtures you would like to use. No detail is too small to mention. Be prepared to make a mental inventory of everything that needs to go in the cabinetry, (especially those hard to fit items that you are currently storing in the basement because you don't have space in your cabinets)
- Drawings Created
- Scaled drawings are created using CAD (computer aided design) software.
- Perspective drawings of every angle of the room are delivered to you.
- Revisions are made as necessary.
- Final selection of appliances and fixtures must be made at this time so we can be sure our plans accommodate what you choose.
- Order the cabinetry and plan for installation
- Once the design is finalized, a contract is signed, the cabinetry is ordered and a 50% cabinetry deposit is collected. Installation is priced separately from the cabinetry order and is based on scope of work.
- We schedule the delivery date which is determined by our suppliers. Our custom line is typically delivered in 12 weeks from ordering and our semi-custom line is typically delivered in 3 weeks.
- Delivery and Installation
- From the time we enter your home to prepare your room to receive the cabinetry, to the time you are using this new space is typically just a few weeks.
- Upon delivery of the cabinetry, the cabinetry fees are collected for the second 50% owed.
- Just prior to the cabinetry delivery date, the space is prepared to receive the cabinetry.
- Cabinets are installed.
- Measurements and templates are made by the counter top fabricator; the counters are ordered and installed in about a week.
- Punch list work is completed and you are enjoying your brand new room.
